Married 1: Jun 1889, Edmonton, London, Amina Patti Collins 6

Julie Weir has Certificate of marriage for Cecil and it says he married Amina Patti Collins
- they had a daughter Rita Amina M B, born Sept.qtr.1896 in Hendon reg. district. In the 1891
census Cecil and Amina have Harriet and John Benthin as his parents-in-law but on the certificate
it has her father as Thomas Collins with John Benthin as a witness, along with Florence
M Broadhurst. I think Harriet Benthin had been married to Thomas Collins before so John Benthin
was in fact a step father - very confusing. Then Cecil and Amina must have got divorced
because they both re-marry in 1902 - Amina marries a lodger who stayed with them in the 1901
census - Robert Grant. I can't find what happened to Rita.

    8. Very deep regret was expressed at Lloyd's yesterday on the announcement of the death of Mr. Creighton
George Broadhurst, senior partner in the firm of Joseph W.Hobbs & Co., with whom he
had been associated for nearly 60 years.
Mr. Broadhurst, who was 75 years of age, became a partner in Messrs. Hobbs in 1899, and was
elected an annual subscribed to Lloyd's in 1900 and a non-underwriting member in 1917. Although
he was virtually retired from active business a few years ago, he nevertheless came to
the City almost daily until within a month of this death, and was a familiar figure at Lloyd's.
He will long be remembered as a broker of outstanding character and ability, and also as
one in whom the best traditions of Lloyd's were inherent. His vigorous and outspoken personality
endeared him to those with whom he came into contact.
Mr Broadhurst was a freeman of the City of London, and on the Livery of the Ironmongers'
Company. He was a keen sportsman, and in his younger days was a well-known cricketer and footballer.
A serious knee injury, however, forced him to abandon prematurely active participation
in these sports. During the war he raised considerable sums in the insurance market on behalf
of the Nation Egg Fund, and had the distinction of collecting the largest single contribution
      to that Fund.
The deepest sympathy of the insurance market is extended to his widow and his only son, Mr.
C.A.Broadhurst, who is also a partner in Messrs. Hobbs and an underwriting member of Lloyd's.

The funeral will take place at noon on Monday at West Norwood Cemetery.

Mr. Creighton George Broadhurst, senior partner in the firm of Joseph W.Hobbs & Co., with whom
he had been associated for nearly 60 years.

KE at 16 Adelaide Rd, Penge (Times)

    Baptised: 1 May 1754, Backford, Cheshire 1

Died: 1837, Tower St, London 2

    Event (Admission to Ironmongers' Co. ): 31 Aug 1780, Redemption 3, 4

Will: 9 Aug 1832, Great Tower Street, City of London 5

    Married: Mary Jany

    Father: Thomas Broadhurst

    Mother: Christian Bradshaw

    Notes:

Reckon he had no children, because Starkey mentioned William's children, but not James's.
Also reckon he was not married because we have his freedom certificate and one would assume that
it would usually be passed on to his children, not Williams.
Finally his will does not mention any children
