PRITCHARD, Wm A Gee |
Baptised: 15 Sep 1811, Saint John the Baptist, Croydon 1
Died: Oct 1884, Teesdale 2
Married: Sarah Wild
Notes:
There is no way Wm A Gee Pritchard b1811 can be the father od Osgood Gee b1821 - the only way I can think of it is to have them as brothers with father William b.1787 IGI records his name as just William, married to Sarah and the family are in Walton On The Hill, Surrey. Confusion starts because Osgood is said to be christened by this father Rev Wm A Gee Pritchard (but Wm A Gee was born in 1811 & Osgood in 1821). William A Gee Rector of St. Peters, Walton on the Hill, Surrey 1815-1822 Inducted 3 November Resigned I'm confused Pritchard, William Amon Gee, 1826. Son of the late Rev. William Pritchard. b. 1812. St. John's Coll. Cam. Senr. Opt. Rector of Brignall, Yorks. from List of Carthusians 1800-1879 http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:List_of_Carthusians_1800-1879.djvu/200 From Alumni Cantabrigienses - transcript (have not seen the actual entries) PRITCHARD, WILLIAM. Adm. pens, at St John's, May 15, 1805; re-adm. Fell. -Com. Jan. 22, 1807. Of Surrey. [School, Cheam.] Matric. Lent, 1806; B.A. 1809; M.A. 1814. Father of William A. G. (1830). A corre- spondent in 1943 reported a painting inscribed: 'William, son of William Gee, named by his step-mother Pritchard, of Beddington Park, Surrey, FeUow Commoner of St John's College, Cambridge, 1809. Bought at the sale of the effects of the late Wm. Amon Gee Pritchard, R. of Brignall, 1884.' (Cant. Act Book; Clerical Guide; Foster, Index Eccles.; F. P. White; Monthly Magazine, 1811, 11. 239.) PRITCHARD, WILLIAM AMON GEE. Adm. pens, (age 19) at St John's, June 22, 1830. S. of the Rev. W[iUiam] (1805). B. [1812], at Croydon, Surrey. [Schools, Charterhouse and Cheam.] Matric. Michs. 1831; B..-\. 1836; M.A. 1863. Ord. deacon (Canterbury, Lilt. dim. from York) May 21, 1837; priest (Lincoln) Sept. 23, 1838; C. of Holy Trinity, York, 1837-9. P.C. of Mountsorrel, Leics., 1844-58. R. of Brigncill, Yorks., 1858-84. Died in Oct. 1884. (List of Carthusians; Eagle, XIII. 284; Cant. Act Book; Crockford.) - so Wm A Gee was born in 1811 (d 1884) and son of William (1805) entry who must have been at least 18 when admitted - so born in around 1787 and died on/after 1838. we have... William b.1787 son of Wm Gee, renamed Pritchard Wm A Gee b.1811 son of Wm 1787 Osgood b.1821 Without the Australian certificate, I would guess that Wm A Gee and Osgood were brothers There is also ELISABETH HOWARD /PRITCHARD/ CHR 09 JUN 1826 just giving mother as Sarah, and no father. 1871 census for Rev. Wm G Pritchard of Brignal Rectory. He is 59y with his wife Frances 58y born Yks, daughter Ellen Maria 17, b 1854 Leics., daughter Octavia Gee 15, b 1856 Leics., Ann daughter-in-law 26, b1845 Australia, and grandson Geo Banter 1, b1870 Kent. Also 3 servants. There is a death for a Frances Pritchard in 1885 in Rochford, Essex, aged 73 and a marriage for Octavia Gee Pritchard in Dec qtr 1886 also in Rochford, Essex, seemly to a James Stephen Winslow who in 1901 is a clergyman in Gt Burstead, Essex.
