Dagenham Girls, Feature Film - Graphic Designer and Standby Art Director: Within the script there were numerous newspapers scripted as the strike developed from local to national importance. I spent a day in the National Newspaper Archives at Colindale researching the actual press coverage and copying relevant pages. By doing this I was able to compare the actual timeline of press coverage with that of the press coverage in our story. We created a fictional paper called "The Dagenham and Redbridge Echo" which we used in addition to the real Dagenham Post, for the local coverage until the first national level story. By knowing the actual press coverage of the time I was able to ensure we didn't produce anything inaccurate and actually recreated many of the newspapers faithfully, while substituting photographs of our actresses which I took on set.
