The Wooden Clock
This is a beautifully designed clock by Clayton Bowyer - his Horologium. A minimalistic design revealing all the workings of a clock and using the simple old mechanism of the Verge and Foliot from the 14th century - renowned for it's inaccuracy! It is more a living sculpture than a time piece. I would love to build a clock like this, but alas there are two major problems. I can not obtain such beautiful wood and also there is nowhere in the house with a spare 3 feet of wall on which to place it!
As the plans take over a month to come from Hawaii, I decided to build a virtual version to better understand the clock and also to be able to adapt it for the above problems. I also have to consider that with very basic wood working tools, let alone skills, how I could make it with any reasonable accuracy.
These pages are my diary and thoughts as I try to build it.
