Revisiting - Layout

Here is the new spacing sitting on a grid of the wood thickness, slightly spacing out the arbor distances (vertically) to separate the wheels.

In expanded detail, you can see that I have had to increase the number of pieces in the drums as everything is now the same thickness.

And I have added an extra thickness to the back of the frame as I reckon 1.6cm is the minimum that will take the weight.

The distance from back to front is now 13 x the wood thickness, which will probably be just over 10cm (4") compared to Clayton's 5" - so it may be a little tight for the weight clearance with the wall.  But assuming I use the Leverage pulley, the main weight will be further away by at least another thickness.

Compared to my last design the major change (see the page:- Plans/Design... > Phase 1 detail), apart from the ratchet, is that the Movement/3rd wheel now has connecting rods to the pinion.  As far as I can tell, this is a good idea, both in terms of weight and vertical stability of the gears.

I think I will use the transparent film as the end of arbor spacers and thus the gap has been reduced to 1mm.

I will continue to use connection pins (some spare welding rod I have) between the pieces instead of gluing them.
