William Parry

Alf said that his grandfather was the first man to work at Bessemer's forge in Bolton. He also said that the family moved from Wales to find work.


Sophia Parry

Alf said that Sophia wore "moleskin pockets under her skirt full of gold soveigns" to be given to whoever looked after he in her old age. She did not marry and died in the 1920s aged 96. If the age is correct and she was born in 1838 it would have ment she died in 1934 - so somebody is a bit out.
